Notes: Every rural school in the county used the library in 1943. The county service increased so much that a part-time worker, Mrs. Ruth Wieber, was hired to help with the county sets.

Notes: At the November meeting of the county board, Mrs. Wieber asked for an increase of $500.00 in appropriation to be used in buying books for use in county schools. The Finance Committee agreed to do this if the city would also add $500.00. The city council approved of this, so the county appropriation was raised to $2,000.00 and the city to $3,800.00 for the coming year.

Notes: Mrs. Doris Clark resigned November first and Miss Stella Anderson took her place as assistant. During the year the library collected magazines and books and sent them to Red Cross headquarters for use in the hospitals. The library was also used as the collection center for the used clothes drive.
